Why am I writing? |
"You’re a truly good person and a wonderful leader! You were always there to help everyone and make it a happier place to be." |
The blessing of having a mentor is that they genuinely take pride in your growth and development. Mine, Steve Moles, knows the passion I have for basketball as both a Dad and a coach. He has sat with me and cheered on my sons as well as observed me coach my youth teams during tournaments. Because of this, he shared the book Beyond Basketball: Coach K’s Keywords For Success written by Hall of Fame Duke Basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski and his daughter Jamie Spatola. The book was more than a gift, it was a tool that helped me ask questions regarding my own leadership and the impact I have on others. One of the ways to impact others that Steve and I were able to identify is to share what I have learned through my work/life experiences through the written word. I hope we are able to create a larger conversation with readers such that we can all grow together so that you may have an impact on others, like Steve has had an impact on me; beyond today.
"I ALWAYS appreciated your leadership engagement and will continue to follow you on here and read your blogs." “Please know your impact on the people was large. Even your recent course on Pillars of Impact was fantastic and a true testament to your experience, value, and wisdom. You have so much to offer the world.” |
Hey Tom, I’ve been reading your blogs for a while now and I think this one stands out from the rest (probably because I love topics that touch upon philosophy). I have a question if you have time or interest to answer: Do you think ultimate meaning is subjective (determined only by the individual) or is there an objective meaning built upon transcendent objective values (truth, love, justice, etc.) that we are all trying to pursue? Thank you for the time and heart you put into your blogs! -Audra |

During Tom’s 30 years with Brewer Science, he worked both in the field and at the corporate office. He demonstrated his versatility & flexibility over the years by serving in diverse leadership positions in Technical Sales, Customer Support, Business, Operations, IT and Corporate Systems. Known as a leader who can communicate the vision and need for change, his movements coincided with the implementation of major initiatives that focused on growth and improvement; Operational Excellence, Oracle Implementation and Zero Defects. Under Tom’s guidance, Brewer Science built a state-of-the-art chemical manufacturing facility in rural Missouri. This facility was acknowledged to be “World Class” by the leading Semiconductor Manufacturers in the world. Brewer Science was a repeat winner of Intel’s 2020 Preferred Quality Supplier Award which recognizes the top 26 suppliers from their entire supply chain.
Core to his leadership approach is the ability to elevate and empower employees to bring their best to the table and then to get out of their way. Fostering a grass roots effort to drive towards World Class, his work teams utilized Lean, 5S, and Continuous Improvement methods to drive out wastes, significantly reduce product scrap while exceeding the extremely demanding and stringent quality standards required by the world’s leading computer chip manufacturers.
Tom has poured his heart and soul into the development of young people in his community, actively coaching and developing young players to become our future leaders. Whether through direct coaching, leading clinics, serving on boards or directing development programs, Tom's focus has always been on their growth and not the scoreboard. Tom has adapted his 3 Pillars of Impact to the sports arena by introducing the Varsity Edition, that focuses on building a winning culture for high school and collegiate sports teams.
